Surviving with Laughter & Good News!

Waiting between tests and appointments for a person living with secondary breast cancer can weigh heavily spiritually. Luckily, the only thing that’s certain for everyone in life is change. Embracing a positive attitude helps in knowing that for every bad day, there is often change for good that follows. Lisa has some good news to share with us in the February 2023 update!

As a reminder, she underwent radiation and is now maintaining a regimen of chemotherapy. Lisa was feeling very optimistic when I interviewed her last Friday. Though there is still widespread cancer in the spine and pelvis, her labs show inflammation is down to a more tolerable value and the fractures appear to be healing. These results mean that she is tolerating the chemotherapy protocol which also means she can extend the time between visits for scans and doctor appointments.

Though Lisa does get very tired, she is managing. To keep her health insurance active, the school district she is working for has helped her set a reasonable part-time work schedule at the high school. Lisa enjoys being with the students, paras, and teachers, but by the end of the day, she is pretty zapped for energy.

Opportunities since December have allowed Lisa to spend time laughing with her girls, Alex and Kate, including a fun photoshoot with photographer Katie Fitzpatrick. Friends and family hope that followers can join us this spring for more fundraising events to come. Don't hesitate to send her your encouragement! gofundme
